Liv Tyler look

Liv Tyler has the most gorgeous makeup in these pictures.. Of course it does not hurt that she is genetically blessed either!

But for those eager to achieve Liv's gorgeous flushed cheeks, stained pout and soft eyes you may like to invest in a few items.
Lip and cheeks - To achieve Liv's soft flushed look you will need a lip and cheek stain. Try Benefits Benetint, or a good drug store alternative is Revlons lipstain in Passion. Finish with a tiny bit of lip balm dabbed on to your lips with your finger.
Eyes - Liv's eyes have a soft shimmer. I recommend the physicians formula palette as a good drug store option. Then line the top inner water line of your eye and run one coat of mascara through curled eyelashes. Groom your brows and your done.

Wallah, you are now rocking Liv Tyler's soft and rosy look.

My skincare routine for combination oily skin

Hi guys,

I hope you enjoyed my skincare video. I use each of these products almost everyday and I highly recommend them. The products are a little on the expensive side, therefore, I recommend getter samples and trying the products for a week before you purchase. Don't feel pressured to buy anything!
The products are available at your local department store, Sephora or beauty salons.

Inspired by Cardinale

Hi, well thought I would put this outfit up. It's my version of Claudia Cardinale doing the grocery shopping (well thats what I was doing - LOL) So of course this outfit is nothing flash but it is comfy and has a definite air of Cardinale.

By the way my hair is darker here. What do you think? Lighter or darker works better?

Hope you have a great day!

Claudia Cardinale Part 2 in Colour

The Italian version of Brigitte Bardot was Claudia Cardinale. Claudia had such a wonderful look, don't you think?

I adore actresses from this period, especially the tousled yet polished village girl look of French and Italian cinema.

Skincueticals Review

Don't know if many of you guys are familiar with the skincueticals line. If your not then its a cosmecuetical line.
I tried some of their products recently so I thought I would do a post on the products I used and what I would recommend. Its pretty pricey so I believe its great to have some information about the products before you head out and buy it.

Here is a list of skincuetical skincare products I tried:

  • Clarifying Clay Mask

  • Foaming Cleanser

  • Retinol 0.5

  • Phloretin CF (skin serum)

  • Serum 15 AOX+

  • Body Polish

Clarifying Clay Masque (rating 6/10)

This mask is supposed to cleanse your pores and refine your skin. The results thus far have not been too dissimilar to your drug store brand. So I say try those first.

Foaming Cleanser (rating 6.5/10)

I am going to start by saying that I'm not a fan of foaming cleansers as I don't feel like they cleanse the skin properly, so I was never going to love this product. However, this cleanser did not overly dry my skin or cause irritation so I liked that. The biggest drawback was that the formula did not work with my clarisonic, so I had to lather up normally (that's not a problem, but I want to make use of my clarisonic).

If you like foaming cleansers than you may like this one.

Retinol 0.5 (rating 9/10)

I tried a small sample of this product and after two days I saw great results. This product is one of the best skincare products I have ever tried!
This product made my skin less congested, almost completely clear, smooth and soft. After, one week it was clear and the best I had ever seen it!

Make sure you read the directions for this one as retinol is very strong.

Phloretin and the Serum 15 AOX - Have only used a few times. I will do a proper review when I have used the product longer

Body Polish (Rating 5/10)

Nice scrub however, it's very pricey. I would try your drug store alternatives first.

If you are looking for a luxury scrub and don't mind spending extra. I would suggest trying the Laura Mercier body scrub. It has very nice packaging and smells delicious.

Thrift Shop Princess

I went to my local thrift shop yesterday. Well actually I went to two of them.
So during my foray into the exciting world of 70's sheath dresses and sparkly tops, I noticed the abundance of geek chic sandals; shoes that are showing up everywhere right now! Only these little woven beauties were priced at $5.00 instead of $60 and upwards!

Unfortunately, I have ginormous feet(9), which when thrifting is like being the incredible hulk in the petite section. But, if you have smaller feet, definitely check out your local thrift shop for some bargain geeky sandals.

Style Icon: Claudia Cardinale Part 1

Brigitte Bardot famously said "I already know who's destined to take my place. There can be only one, and one alone. After BB comes CC, no?".

That CC is Claudia Cardinale. Born in Tunisia to Italian parents Claudia became a huge star after winning a beauty pageant which took her to Italy with a movie contract. Only Claudia didn't speak Italian having grown up speaking French. Her initial films were dubbed so as not to confuse the audience with her french accent.
She bacame a huge star when Fellini cast her as the perfect woman.

Claudia would go on to star with Bardot in the Western 'Once Upon a Time in the West'. The two remain friends to this day.

The whole shebang

I took some pics over the weekend with my friend. All pretty silly, however, thought I would share.
The outfit is something I rummaged for at the last minute. Pretty much consisting of pieces I never wear.

Hope you all had a gorgeous weekend!

Sunny Sunday

The weather was wonderful today. Warm but not too hot.
I decided to wear high heels on a day I would spend much of my time on my feet. Needless to say, I was limping within a few hours sitting on the benches in the mall usually reserved for the impatient clock watchers.
Other than that, enjoyed a great lunch and a quick visit to Sephora.
Are all Sephora's saunas? The heat in there is awful!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Lara on the magazine

Insane

CLARISONIC!

Well I finally succumbed to the clarisonic bandwagon.

Not familiar with the clarisonic. Here is the product description from the clarisonic site.

"The Clarisonic Power Scrubber is the latest innovation in advanced skincare. The sonic technology works with the natural elasticity of the skin to provide gentle daily cleansing. Oscillating back and forth at a sonic frequency that produces over 300 movements per second, a flexing action is created between the outer and inner brushes that works deeply and gently to loosen dirt and oil from the pores".

Sounds wonderful doesn't it?

The clarisonic is not cheap. Priced at $195.00, the clarisonic is certainly not something purchased on a whim.
That being said - I did purchase this after one of those "Bugger! My skin looks awful" days(which is really a polite way of saying it). I guess it's like food shopping while hungry.

I have been using the clarisonic for less than a week so still early days. However, I have noticed that my skin feels very soft. Which I like so far.

Pastel Creamery

The weather was stunning today. Perfect gelato weather! The colours had me craving a manicure in this season's yummiest pastel shades.
Instead, I enjoyed a delicious gelato (pictured)and imagined the colours I could create. It was too nice outside to painting my nails. :P

The colours that have really caught me eye are the Illamasque range of creamy buttery hues.

Style Inspiration - Steff(James Spader) in Pretty in pink

Who doesn't love the film 'Pretty in Pink'? Every character exudes a distinct style. Alright, so a rather 80's aesthetic. But none the less, rather fun to look at.

Steff may not be the most likeable character. I know I find myself thinking "why are you so mean to Andy.... Nice shoes" and "Was that shirt in a Bryan Ferry video?".

The styling simply oozes stuck up cool (That's a difficult look to pull off). Surely, I'm not the only one here. Perhaps, the stylist on Gossip Girl?

Laetitia Casta for Vogue Paris

I adore Laetitia Casta. Therefore, I was delighted to see her on the cover of Vogue Paris. The colour pallet is subtle yet strong. Definitely suiting my aesthetic.

Be like Laetitia; forgot about shoes, wear chiffon, ruffles and keep your hair natural.

Shape & Form

"I'd like to wear it but (insert your own word)" I'm sure everyone has mumbled this statement at some point in response to catwalk fashion vs real life fashion and how their body shape fits into that. Blending the two is not that easy. I have worn pieces that didn't suit me because they were fashionable. Or looked so awkward carrying off a look because I thought I may have looked silly that I did look so.
On the other hand I have also let silly insecurities affect what I have worn. Like the time I wouldn't wear high heels because I felt I was already too tall (I'm 5'8 - which is pretty normal anyway). I got over that quick fast.

Anyway, what I have learnt is that you should not let fashion or insecurities get in your way when you are practicing a form of self expression like dressing yourself. Dress who you are and if people think you look silly then that's their problem. However, I think when you follow your own innate style then most people will admire your individuality.

About the picture: I took this photo about a week ago in Sydney, Australia. Currently, their are art pieces randomly adorning the city streets. This was taken in a little side street close to Martin Place.
I think it suits this post well.

Garbo

It's cold outside and all I can think about is rugging up. Warmth is my key goal this morning. That's why I'm liking this picture of Greta Garbo. She is all the elegance required this morning.
Hope everyone on this side of the world is rugged up and comfy.

Great Southern Land

I have been travelling around beautiful Australia this last month. Thus, I have not updated my blog for a while. I will be putting up blog posts about my trip over the next couple of days. Mostly regarding shopping, purchases and beautiful scenery.

In other news. I have changed my blog header to a picture of me (conceited much?). I want to start using more of my own photos. I thought I should start by shaping my blog around that idea first. However,I did feel incredibly silly clicking the upload button on my settings. A fact which makes the next sentence rather illogical.

Illogical sentence? Well here it goes - For no other reason other than I have too much Libra in my astrological chart; I have put up the other options for my blog title picture.
